Recently awarded a Silver Cube at the 2023 ADC Awards, the packaging designed by New York’s Creech Studio for the California brand Monastery reflects the natural essence of those precious cosmetics. It summoned all of the skill of our workshops.
Die-cut, grooved and hand-finished using textured, coloured papers from Fedriogni’s Sirio Colour, Ispira and Canaletto lines, the different boxes present variations of audacious and sophisticated colours: Bruno, Rosa Fucsia, Rosso Passione, Grigio Londra, Blu Saggezza, Grana Grossa—tones with botanical brilliance on which the brand’s medallion appears.
Made by means of gold or silver foiling enhanced by a multi-level embossing, the medallion reveals the sculpted, illuminated features of the Greek goddess of wisdom and artisans, whose name is shared by Monastery’s founder, Athena Hewett.
Combined with a glossy lamination, the golden or silvery foiling that also ornaments the texts evokes the sparkling of sunshine on water, while also highlighting the richness and purity of the ingredients used in formulating skincare products handmade in small series in San Francisco, directly inspired by Greek culture and its rituals.
From the Mediterranean Sea to the Pacific Ocean, this elegant, timelessly designed set of packaging, made sublime by savoir-faire, is saturated with a sun radiating stories, scents, and promises of new possibilities.
