Launch Invitation Set · Joopiter When a set combines an invitation to a collectible item
In 2022, Pharrell Williams unveiled a new project: Joopiter, a new-era auction platform developed online in collaboration with London-based agency Alaska Alaska, founded by Virgil Abloh. The items put up for sale are carefully curated for their ability to shape the spirit of the time.
To set the tone, the very first sale consists exclusively of clothing, shoes, jewellery and other accessories from Pharrell Williams' personal collection. Entitled ‘Son of a Pharaoh’, a nod to his father's first name (Pharoah), it celebrates Joopiter's multicultural bling spirit through the concepts of heritage, rarity and value.
For the launch, the Alaska Alaska studio designed an experiential invitation that reflects the radiant spirit of the sale. To ensure that this was embodied in a sophisticated, tangible form, our packaging development, photoengraving, litho printing, silk-screen printing, diecutting and hand-finishing workshops were called upon.
A large white cardboard box with a flap features the invitation text on the front and the Joopiter coat of arms on the back. The whole thing is silkscreen printed in a Pantone purple. Velvet of the same colour covers the inside of the box, which has been transformed into a card table. A set of cards, also purple, printed in spot colour litho and die-cut, completes the composition. The cards are divided into four custom-made card holders.
Each small pile is encircled by a ring made of transparent paper that echoes the cover of the sales catalogue accompanying the set. Its interior pages are printed in four-colour litho after the meticulous work of our photoengraving workshop. On the transparent cover, ‘Joopiter’ is screen-printed in white for guaranteed visual impact and a contemporary effect.
The set combines an invitation to a collectible item in a playful and avant-garde spirit, with an emphasis on beauty and attention to detail.
